This cookie is another opportunity for the children to have fun and make Christmas Cookies with Mom or Dad. Any activity in which the family participates is a valuable moment at the holiday.
Ingredients:
1 roll refrigerated sugar cookies
1 container [ 1 pound] vanilla creamy ready-to-spread frosting
4 or 5 drops of green food color
2 tubes red decorating gel [ put gel in refrigerator if too soft to form bows-5 minutes]
About 2 tablespoons holiday red and green candy decorations, sprinkles.
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Remove half of cookie dough from wrapper; refrigerate remaining dough until needed. Cut dough into 12 slices, 1/3 inch thick.
On floured work surface roll each into 6-inch rope.
On ungreased cookie sheet form into wreath shapes 2 inches apart; pinch ends of each wreath together.
Bake 9-12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 1 minute. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely bot 15 minutes. Repeat with remaining half of cookie dough.
In medium bowl, mix frosting and food color until well blended. Frost tops of cookies. With decorating gel, form bow at top of each wreath. Sprinkle with candy sprinkles or decors.
If you cannot find decorating gel, then use frosting and food coloring.
This same recipe could be used for any holiday shape or color of cookie. Your imagination is the only limit on the variety of cookie and fun that you and your family can have with these cookies. Rolls of refrigerated cookies should be a staple in the freezer for the holiday season. Kids grow up too fast. Do not procrastinate an activity with the children because the season is so busy.
