Dessert Recipes

With summer approaching and fresh fruits available, a simple and versatile dessert is the fruit cobbler. To make this dessert you melt one stick of butter or margarine. To this mixture you add one cup milk, one cup flour, one cup sugar and 16 oz of any fruit you desire. You can use fresh, frozen or canned fruit or pie filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes until it is bubbly and brown. This recipe serves six. You can serve this dessert with ice cream or whipped topping. It will be a dessert that is requested over and over by your family.

Another easy summer recipe is homemade ice cream. Simply add a can of Eagle brand milk and Yoo-hoos to fill the container. Start the ice cream machine and in twenty minutes you have a frosty type dessert. Instead of Yoo-hoos you can also add a flavored two liter to the mix. Orange soda or root beer are also crowd pleasers.

An easy candy recipe to make is often called "haystacks." To make this candy, melt almond bark with a cup of white chocolate chips added to it in a double boiler. When the mixture is melted, add nuts, cereal, chow mein noodles, or pretzels. Drop spoonfuls onto wax paper. Allow the haystacks to harden. This recipe helps use up small amounts of items that you have in the pantry.

A well known restaurant pie recipe is truly "as simple as pie." To make O'Charley's caramel pie, you simply boil an unopened can of Eagle brand milk for three hours. Carefully, pour the filling into a graham cracker crust. Let the pie cool. Next, top the pie with whipped topping, pecans, and chocolate slivers.
